Frequently Asked Questions — Therapist Point
Everything you need to know about Therapist Point — whether you're looking for care or growing your practice.
About Therapist Point
Therapist Point is a mental health and addiction treatment directory that connects individuals seeking care with licensed therapists, psychiatrists, and treatment centers. We also offer educational resources, articles, podcasts, online tests, and a growing community forum — all in one place.
Our platform serves two audiences: people seeking mental health or addiction support who need help finding the right professional, and mental health providers (therapists, psychiatrists, and treatment centers) who want to grow their practice and attract new clients online.
No. Therapist Point is a directory and resource platform — we do not provide therapy or clinical services directly. We connect you with licensed professionals who do. All clinical care happens between you and the provider you choose.
Beyond a searchable directory, Therapist Point offers a rich content ecosystem: expert articles written by licensed psychotherapists, a podcast, short motivational "Microdose" videos, online mental health tests, a community forum, and web design & SEO services built specifically for mental health professionals.
Yes. Our directory includes providers in both the United States and Canada. You can search by location to find therapists, psychiatrists, and treatment centers near you in either country.
Finding a Provider
Use the search bar on our homepage or navigate directly to the Therapist, Psychiatrist, or Treatment Center directories. Filter by location, specialty, or area of help to narrow results to providers that fit your needs.
We cover more than 50 areas of help including anxiety, depression, addiction, ADHD, trauma & PTSD, eating disorders, marriage counseling, grief, OCD, bipolar disorder, substance use, and many more. Visit our Areas of Help page for the full list.
The "Verified by Therapist Point" badge indicates that the provider's credentials and listing information have been reviewed by our team. It gives you added confidence that the professional is who they say they are.
Yes. Many providers on our platform offer virtual/telehealth sessions. You can check individual provider profiles for information on session formats — in-person, online, or both.
Therapists (such as licensed counselors, social workers, and psychologists) provide talk therapy and help you work through emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication. Some people work with both. Our directory lets you search either category.
The Directory
Results are ordered based on membership level and location relevance. Featured members appear at the top of results pages, followed by basic and free listings. This ensures that providers investing in their visibility get prioritized placement.
Providers are responsible for accurately representing their credentials. Verified listings have been reviewed by our team for accuracy. We strongly encourage you to confirm a provider's license through your state or province licensing board before beginning care.
Provider profiles display information about specialties, credentials, location, and contact details. For detailed feedback, we recommend reaching out to the provider directly or consulting your insurer's network reviews.
Each provider profile includes contact options — you can reach out via email, use the built-in booking feature (if the provider has it enabled), or visit their linked website. The method available depends on the provider's membership plan.
Booking & Appointments
Yes, if a provider has enrolled in our "Book Now" plan. When available, you'll see a booking option directly on their profile. Not all providers have this feature enabled — some prefer direct email or phone contact instead.
There is no fee for clients to use the booking feature. The $15 per booking fee is charged to the provider, not to you. Therapist Point does not charge clients for discovering or contacting providers.
Once you request a booking, the provider receives a notification and will confirm or follow up with you. Be sure to provide accurate contact details. The specifics of appointment confirmation, cancellation policy, and session format are set by the provider.
Therapist Point does not handle insurance or session payments. Those arrangements are made directly between you and the provider. We recommend asking providers upfront about accepted insurance plans, sliding-scale fees, or out-of-pocket costs. Visit our Health Insurance page for general guidance.
Getting Listed as a Provider
Any licensed therapist, psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, or treatment center can create a listing. We also accept registered social workers, counselors, and other credentialed mental health professionals. Life coaches may list under the appropriate specialty category.
Visit our Get Listed page and choose your category (Therapist, Psychiatrist, or Treatment Center), then select the plan that fits your needs. Free listings are available with no upfront cost, and paid plans unlock additional visibility and features.
Your profile can include your name, credentials, photo, location, specialties, areas of focus, website link, email, and a booking option. A complete, detailed profile makes it significantly easier for potential clients to find and trust you.
Yes. Log in to your account at any time to update your profile information, add or change your photo, adjust your specialties, or manage your booking settings. Keeping your profile current helps clients find accurate information.
The free listing includes your website link and email for direct leads. Paid plans add features like a booking widget, ad-free profile pages, and — at the Featured level — prominent placement at the top of search results. See our full pricing page for a side-by-side comparison.
Membership & Pricing
We offer four main options: Free Listing (no cost), Book Now ($0 upfront + $15/booking), Basic Membership ($39/year), and Featured Membership ($79/year). There is also a Sponsor a Giveaway option at $200 one-time, which includes a year of Featured membership plus social media and newsletter promotion.
Featured Membership ($79/year) includes everything in the Basic plan — personalized profile, booking feature, SEO-friendly website link, direct email leads, and ad-free pages — plus top-of-results-page placement so your listing appears before standard listings when clients search.
For $200 (one-time), sponsors receive a Featured Membership for one year, a listing on the Contest Giveaway page, promotion through Therapist Point's social media channels, and a newsletter email blast to our audience. After the first year, sponsorship continues at $50/year for the Featured tier.
Yes. You can manage your membership by logging into your account. For billing questions or plan changes, please reach out via our Contact page and our team will assist you.
