How does BPD affect relationships with family, friends, or partners?

People with BPD often experience emotions very deeply and quickly, which can lead to misunderstandings or conflicts even over small issues.

Relationships can feel like a rollercoaster, with moments of intense closeness and admiration (idealization), quickly followed by feelings of disappointment or anger (devaluation).

Because of past hurts or fear, trusting people consistently can be very hard, leading to suspicion or insecurity.

Sudden impulsive actions driven by emotional distress might confuse or worry loved ones.

Expressing needs clearly can be tough, sometimes resulting in misunderstandings or feelings of being misunderstood.
